Semaglutide Toolkit!

Alright, I've had at least a dozen people ask me for best practices when taking #semaglutide or any other #weightloss medication. The majority of these folks are asking how to best deal with the side effects of the drug, and while I do have some tips to help, there are more important things to focus on.

Here's the truth of it - the two best things you should do while taking #semaglutide is get regular nutrition counseling and weight lifting support. If you're familiar with my blog you know I love STAT Wellness and highly recommend their dieticians and workout classes.

In my almost year on the drug - I've not only experienced the side effects of the drug but also the changes in my cravings, my appetite, my physical appearance, and my body mass makeup.

You can take the injection and prepare for the side effects told you, but you have to optimize yourself for success after the drug. This means you need to think long-term.

What are your goals? What is your support system? How much are you willing to spend to make sure you're successful? Are you actually ready for the mindset change that has to accompany weight loss?

Whether it's #ozempic, #wengovy, or #semaglutide the intent is still the same - you took your time to go to a provider and get the drug. That took not only time but also effort - especially if you had the opportunity to go the insurance approval route. You should honor and respect the time you invested. You should also go ahead and get your mind wrapped around the fact that you won't be on the drug forever - prepare for that.

Make the investment in learning more about your nutritional needs and weight lifting. Make the investment in understanding your #musclemass and #visceralfat. Make the investment in your #mentalhealth during this time as well. You will likely experience a change in your perception of yourself - get support if you need it with adjusting to that.

I've assembled a starter kit with all the products and/or services that have helped me on my #semaglutide journey. Please note, I may receive affiliate dollars for some of these items, but remember my promise to you - I would never promote something in this space that I don't use myself.

  1. Journal - whether you are a habitual daily writer, an occasional daily writer, or a weekly overview warrior, you should be chronicling your #goals (and tracking your injection dates)

  2. Hydration - you need to stay hydrated, while your appetite is being recalibrated you need to remember to drink water. H20 moisturizes us inside and out

  3. Greens - with your appetite in flux you need to remember those basic vitamins and minerals

  4. Protein - with your appetite in flux, you need to make sure you're fueling your body with protein so it doesn't steal from your muscle stores - remember muscle mass supports metabolic rate and metabolic rate is how you maintain what you've lost

  5. Support - this post isn't sponsored by STAT but they have been my support system through this, if you're in the ATL check them out, if you do end up going to STAT let them know I sent you or if you're interested in getting an IV or injection use promo code YAS10 for 10% off

How you decide to go about your journey with any drug that aids you in your #weightlossjourney is up to you. However, I hope if you're here, you value what I have to say about my experience. I promise only to lift you up in your journey.

Please remember, I am not a medical professional and as always I suggest and encourage you to see a provider for a diagnosis, prescription, and/or opinion on anything medically related. I am simply sharing my experience in an attempt to destigmatize the journey.

With brutal honesty, wrapped in good intentions.
